MUZZY THE TURK

The football player named Mustafa Ýzzet (Muzzy) who has just put forward a condition that once his military service problem is sorted out, he would then be able to play for the National Turkish Team is actually a Turkish Cypriot. As for his mother, she is English.

Mustafa who plays for Leicester City and portrays a brilliant performance says that:” I feel myself almost like a Turk. To be able to do something for the sake of Turkey gives me the honour”

When Mustafa has applied to become a citizen in year 1996, they said to him to “Come back to the army after ten days” which has left him in a deep sorrow and made him to give up.

For this reason, he has stipulated that in order to play, there would be no interference with his military service procedures. As soon as a guarantee has been given in terms of his military service, grabbing the Turkish flag, Muzzy took a stroll around the pitch just after one of Leicester’s matches.

I am aware that English people has no hidden intents which would obstruct any event with such nature. On the contrary, they don’t even pay an attention. This was the impression I have had in London. They were not even bothered...

The question which tackles my mind is this: Why would anyone who loves his country should become worried about his military service ? Is Muzzy making a show off !

In actual fact, he does not have the profession to play for the national English team and he was never called, considering this, is he working to his own benefit so that he could take part at the international matches beginning in June..! Time will show that.

My second portrait in this article is Fatih Terim. Except for the fact that he is from Galatasaray team; which I don’t see as a privilege, I consider him as a good technical manager as well as a good motivator. Fatih Terim concentrates on football matches in such a way that he sweats quite a lot even in cold weather. We are seeing it on screens.

Perhaps Terim has managed to bring Galatasaray to a position where it would not be able to reach in its own history. During his management, Italian and German teams has become average teams, this situation is already known. The point that I would like to raise is that Terim’s behaviour in football matches goes far too extreme than it does in a football player.

Take a look at the newpaper headlines: “A slap from Terim !” After the second goal of Hagi, Galatasary’s technical director (This is what has been said about the match played in Germany where Galatasaray has beaten Dortmund) confused what he would do due to the sheer joy he was having and have slapped his assistant Müfit Erkasap whom he just saw there. Fatih Terim did not take a seat for the entire duration of the match. He has shared his joy with his assistant Müfit Erkasap in a strange way”

Joy and sorrow is for the individuals. A technical director should not lose his tranquillity.”
